A two page website redesign for a local coffee shop, focused on helping users quickly understand the café's offering and access the menu while reflecting a bright, summer-inspired brand.
Constraints:
no budget for formal user research
Short project timeline
Limited content provided by the client
What I learned:
Designing minimalist interfaces still requires strong hierarchy
Visual identity should support, not compete with, usability
Small layout decisions have a big impact on clarity on mobile

Café & healthy food (grains, salads, bowls, light bites)
Smoothies made with fresh, natural ingredients
Specialty coffee drinks (espresso, lattes, filtered coffee)

The Problem
Customers had no easy way to understand the shop’s atmosphere or offerings before visiting.Because competitors in the area already had websites, the café was missing out on visibility, customer engagement, and the opportunity to showcase their unique personality. They requested a colorful website with summer vibes that reflects their warm, bright café environment.
The Goal
Create a bright, summer-inspired website that matches the café’s brand.
Make the shop easily discoverable online.
Present a clean, organized menu that customers can browse quickly.
Build trust and attract new customers by showing the café’s vibe and visual identity.
Ensure mobile-friendly design for customers ordering or browsing on the go.
My Role
This is a project that allowed me to plan and lead each stage of the design thinking process as a web designer. I was able to design and develop the project.
User Needs
Through quick competitor research and informal interviews, I identified the primary user needs:
Quick access to the menu
Clear open hours and location
High-quality visuals to understand the café’s vibe
Simple, mobile-optimized navigation
Easy-to-read categories: coffee, tea, smoothies, pastries, and seasonal summer drinks
Design Process
Created wireframes focusing on simplicity and quick access to the menu.
Chose a color palette inspired by summer shades: warm yellows, soft blues, coral accents.
Added playful, light visual elements to create a refreshing feel.
Designed menu sections with icons, images, and short descriptions for easy scanning.
The Solution
The final website includes a vibrant homepage with a summer-inspired color palette, a hero section showcasing the café’s atmosphere, and a menu page with clearly organized drink and food categories optimized for mobile. It also features an About section with the café’s story and photos, along with a Contact & Location page that includes a Google Maps embed and operating hours.
The Outcome
The coffee shop gained its first professional online presence.
Customers can now easily browse the menu and summer specials.
Website reflects the colorful, refreshing, summer vibe the client wanted.
Increased discoverability and customer engagement.
